Alyx’s story

As a kid who changed schools often, Alyx found it easier to get lost in doodles up the margins of her schoolwork or in Sharpie on her arm than to constantly re-figure out how to interact with new people—when she wasn’t talking with the the wind or hugging trees. Once the door of music opened up, lyrics and poetry began to heavily influence her visual art-- largely made of collage, acrylic, ink, typography, graffiti, and psychedelia.

To pay the bills as a single parent, they managed to find creative outlets through the restaurant industry or in marketing & doing chalkboard art working for non-profits.

Then inJanuary of 2025, an opportunity arose in the only tattoo shop they’ve received their many tattoos from; an opportunity to venture further into their favorite medium while making space for art, healing, and connection simultaneously.

The relatively new understudy of the shop, Alyx feels confident in black tattoos, detailed line work, and text. They are currently beginning to venture into shading and color, and they aspire to learn every style in order to hone in on a couple down the road, especially perfecting text in any form.

They deeply feel that tattooing is just as much a technical skill, form of expression, and impactful art, as it is something healing, symbolic, perhaps even spiritual. They work to bring the medicine back into tattooing as they continue collaborating with clients to make kick-ass pieces together.
